Rabbi Dr. Margaret Jacobi is the rabbi of Birmingham Progressive Synagogue. She has a PhD in Talmud, which focused on literary construction in ‘Perek Helek’, the last chapter of tractate Sanhedrin. She received ordination through Leo Baeck College in 1994 and has an MA in Jewish Studies with distinction. Prior to her rabbinic studies, she qualified in medicine and was a medical researcher. She has taught and written on Jewish medical ethics and medicine in the Talmud.
Rabbi Jacobi is particularly interested in exploring issues of justice in the Talmud and putting them into practice in her congregational and interfaith work. She is a lecturer in Introductory rabbinics and a personal tutor.
