Message From the Chairman by Professor Stephen Herman
As Chair of the Board of Governors of Leo Baeck College, I am pleased to say that LBC is committed to the principles of shared governance, which ensure that faculty, administrators, staff, students, the Board of Governors, alumni and other stakeholders participate in the important decisions regarding the operation of the college.
While ultimate legal authority and accountability remain with the Board and administration, all stakeholders have a vested interest in the governance of the institution.
At LBC shared governance is based on respect for the many and varied roles of all in the College community, timely information to ensure meaningful input to the decision-making process and an inclusive dialogue that respects divergent perspectives.
These principles, which represent best practice in higher education, make LBC stronger and more effective in the accomplishment of our mission.
