British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours
All the staff, faculty and students at the College would like to congratulate our new Chair of the Board of Governors, Jill Todd, on her being awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, which she managed to keep it a secret for over six weeks.
The award is for services to the community in Tower Hamlets – especially for her work in primary and secondary education in the borough as Chair of the Tower Hamlets Schools Forum, and for promoting improvements in education and therapeutic support for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK.
The award is also recognition for her services to our community both as a former chair of West London Synagogue and her work in promoting aid for refugees.
Speaking about her work, she said: “It is fantastic to work in a places that are challenging.
“Tower Hamlets went from being bottom of the pile in terms of education to second in London and I have never met so many hard working people there.”
We wish her and Michael a truly heartfelt mazeltov on this award.
