From the Librarian’s desk

Like the library as a whole, the Librarian’s Office is a treasure trove of extraordinary books and artefacts. If you pop in with a query or a greeting you will doubtless be distracted by the front cover of a new arrival, a gold embossed spine or a foot high pile of books to rifle through. As the library is currently closed to visitors during the Covid 19 Pandemic, my office is now at home and it is from there that I would like to share some thoughts about some of our unusual, meaningful and beautiful holdings, that are temporarily sharing my living room. Even though we cannot sit in our favourite corners nor browse the physical shelves, I hope the library’s books, that have witnessed so many upheavals, will continue to inform and inspire online. Click on the titles below to find out more about the treasures and curiosities of our collections and do email me with any questions, comments or to find out more.
