Rabbi Aaron Goldstein is one of the Senior Rabbis of The Ark Synagogue (formerly Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue) and former Chair of the Conference for Liberal Rabbis and Cantors. He is a Jewish product of The Ark and the Liberal Jewish youth movement and secular product of Aston University where he studied Ergonomics with Business before managing British Steel’s business with UK Japanese car transplants!
The decision to follow his parent’s – Rabbi Dr Andrew and Sharon Goldstein – role as congregational and movement leaders in Liberal Judaism saw Aaron study at LBC with a year at HUC-JIR, NYC. The latter was informative to his work as a congregational rabbi and in service leading. Learning from both colleges complimented his interest in supporting existing and establishing new congregations.
Following semicha in 2002, Aaron became Outreach Director for Liberal Judaism before succeeding (through a fair recruitment process) his father at The Ark. He was honoured to be invited, together with Cantor, Zoe Jacobs, to lead the 2017 LBC Ordination Service and 2018 EUPJ Conference Shabbat Morning Service.
Aaron, together with Rabbi Lea Muhlstein and a wonderful lay team, has exemplified the possibilities provided by the pandemic. We may not have wished it this way but service-leading will never be the same as 2019.
Aaron teaches service leading skills on the vocational programme for rabbinic students and is a tutor.
